“Take a number, please.”
You must take a number if you want to be served at Bijan Bakery & Cafe. They found that the best way to serve customers is to have each customer take a number. I’m telling this to you now because it is not obvious when you go into the bakery that you need to take a number. After your number is called one of the patrons at the bakery is there for all of your bakery needs. He or she can whip up a hot chocolate or a latte to go along with your tasty bakery treat. A drink is recommened to enjoy your drink, either for dipping purposes or just for the enjoyment of having something to wash your bakery item down.

Ahhhh. More refreshing desserts from the lovely Icing on the Cake. Every customer seems to really enjoy the cupcakes, so I decided it would be best to sample more cupcakes as the next two items from the bakery.
The second item from the bakery is called Banarama. I’m about to tell you why that name is SO appropriate for this cupcake. First I’ll start with the overall evaluation.
Aroma: smells like freshly baked, homemade banana bread.
Presentation: It looks like a simple, generic cupcake. The cupcake itself is a regular size 3 and 1/2 ounce cupcake. On top, is a dallop of cream-colored frosting covered in sprinkles.
Taste: My first bite was full of the cream cheese, banana frosting. The sugary sweetness of banana was overwhelming and the creaminess of the cream cheese was amazing. The cupcake tasted like dry banana bread and I wish it had walnuts. The frosting complemented the cupcake very well because it added moisture to the overall cupcake.
Price: $2.75 each

The "Neapolitan"
This scrumptous cupcake was purchased at Icing on the Cake, located on W. Main St. in Los Gatos, CA.
This magnificent bakery has been serving the community for over 20 years. The bakery first opened in 1985 and the owner, Lynn Magnoli, is very passionate about baking. The shop itself is truly unique. As I walked through the door I was welcomed by the smell of butter and sugar. As I looked around I was overwhelmed by all the tasty treats available to me.
I bet you can guess how this cupcake got it’s name, it looks just like neopolitan ice cream. This cupcake itself is vanilla and the frosting is a swirl of strawberry and chocolate.
Aroma: This cupcake was appetizing to me before I even put it in my mouth. The smell of strawberry permeated the air. Immediately, my mouth began to water as I thought about how delicious this cupcake was going to taste.
Rating: 10
Presentation: The cupcake itself is a regular size cupcake, about 3 and 1/2 ounces. The frosting on top of the cupcake is it was really makes it appealing. There is a giant swirl of chocoate and strawberry frosting directly on top of the cupcake. The frosting makes the cupcake appear twice the size that it really is. Although the frosting is swirled together, there is a clear seperation of the strawberry and chocolate. Without tasting this cupcake, I knew the frosting was going to be rich and creamy.
Rating: 10
Taste: There are three distinct flavors: Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla. I’m going to start with the frosting because that was the first thing I tasted as I took my first bite out of the cupcake. The frosting was rich and creamy. As I took my first bite a strong burst of chocolate and strawberry was released on to my taste buds. The great thing about the frosting is that neither the strawberry nor the chocolate overpowered one another; I was still able to taste both flavors very distinctly. Next, I peeled the cupcake wrapper away from the cupcake, leaving the side of it exposed. As I took the next bite, the soft cupcake crumbled in my mouth and my taste buds got another surge of the chocolate and strawberry frosting. Overall, the vanilla cupcake with the frosting combination was excellent. There was just one tiny problem, the cupcake was a little dry. This scrumptous treat would best if enjoyed with some ice cold milk.

Hello fellow bloggers!
This is my first blog in a while so I might be a little rusty, but don’t worry I’ll get the hang of things. Since I was a young girl I’ve enjoyed the hobby of baking. I used to have one of those Easy-Bake ovens that came with pre-made cake mixes. All one had to do was throw in a little water with the cake mix, mix it, and toss it into the small little oven. This “toy” was mainly marketed to young girls, however my neighbor, who happened to be a boy, loved to play with my Easy-Bake oven. So you see..everyone loves baked goods.
One of my other favorite things about baking is that I could never go wrong. No matter what, the food tasted relatively good, unless I left it in the oven for too long.
Enough about me, I’m writing this blog for YOU. In the next few months I am going to be visiting different bakeries in Saratoga, Los Gatos and San Jose. After visiting each bakery I am going to tell you what I thought the best 3 items on the menu were. So, tune in to find out where you can enjoy some tasty treats. Also, please feel free to give me any feedback you might have about the menu items I have selected or any other items that you think I might have missed.
Now, it’s time to get my sweet tooth on!
